The No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani and Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has donated one million dollars each to assist in humanitarian efforts in Japan. Both Bullock and Stefani showed great concern for the consequences of the earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear crisis on the population and decided to share some of their wealth in an attempt to alleviate suffering.

Their efforts are not alone, as Warner Brothers and director Clint Eastwood announced they will donate part of profits from the film Hereafter to various humanitarian causes. The film, which had to be withdrawn from cinemas, has a brutal scene that recreates the Tsunami occurred in 2003 off the coast of Southeast Asia that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

Although no direct reference to what happened in Japan, the scene is very disturbing because the costs of the country also suffered a devastating tsunami after the earthquake and it is logical that the study finds that public awareness would be affected for that image.

In addition to its donation, Stefani also released a new line of shirts whose proceeds will go entirely to charity. More celebrities are expected to join these donations, especially since U.S. charity can be tax deductible so that not only looks good to the public but also escapes the Treasury.
